x

RECOMMENDATION FOR EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

Project Overview

Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.

Education in Sri Lanka falls under the control of both the Central Government and the Provincial Councils, with some responsibilities lying with the Central Government and the Provincial Council having autonomy for others. Sri Lanka's population has a literacy rate of 92%, higher than that expected for a third world country and it has the highest literacy rate in South Asia and overall, one of the highest literacy rates in Asia

Figure-01 Achievement of O/L in Batticaloa

Based on the above chart and bellow table the number of passed students from both A/L and O/L is less than 50% in total in the Batticaloa West Zone as well the bellow table show that the large number of dropout students are instigated from the same Zonal Education. So among all other zones the Batticaloa West is having very low progress. That wise we selected this zone first to empower the students’ performance through implement some strategies as we suggested.
