Introduction
Youth unemployment remains a
critical issue for policy makers, youth and their families in Sri Lanka.
Unemployment rates in the age group 15-19 years was 20% in 2010 and in the
20-24 age group, 19%. Female unemployment in this age group is also higher than
male unemployment
Problem: Sri Lanka has long been
regarded as a model of a successful welfare state, yet it has for decades faced
major challenges in providing employment and meeting the aspirations of youth.
We have identified some specific problems are given bellow,
• Inaccessibility of quality
education and training
• Social exclusion and
marginalization
• Poor health condition and well
being
• Lack of skill and vocational
training capacity
Objective:
Increase the level of
employment and Promote awareness on skilled labour and non-traditional
occupations.
Sub objectives:
Provide vocational
training and promote skill capacity Guide them for the professional job
Strategy:
1. collect the name list of youth
through NYSC, schools and through medias
2. coordinate with the relevant
ministry to intervene developed proposal
3. Conduct the awareness programme
with the relevant institutions of Ministry of youth affairs and skills
development.
4. Form the Tamil youth forces and
registered at Colombo district
5. Conduct job fairs with
coordination of capable private companies to create suitable job opportunities
and make them aware of available job market rent.

• Estate Sector Youth
